Do you have a bucket list? I’ve never really made one, but as the years advance it is popping into my mind more frequently that I may need to create one, and then try to tick items off that list.
What to put on the list? Experiences? Destinations? Goals? As far as experiences, I’ve white water rafted in Colorado, hot air ballooned over the Napa Valley, snorkeled over a sunken plane in Cozumel, driven the Pacific Coast highway, dipped my toes in the frigid Pacific Ocean. I’ve ridden horseback in the Garden of the Gods, ridden the cog railway to the top of Pikes Peak, whale watched off the coast of Massachusetts, and hiked to waterfalls in North Georgia and Rocky Mountain National Park. I’ve been present at more births than I can count, seeing precious lives outside the womb begin. I’ve also been present for that precise moment that a life ends, unfortunately more times than I’d like to ponder.
As for destinations, I’ve been able to travel to most of the places I really wanted to go. San Francisco and Northern California, the Rockies, the Smokies, New England both in summer and my favorite season, Fall. I’ve done the “big out west trip” and seen the Painted Desert, Petrified Forest, Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns. Cruised to the Bahamas, Cozumel, Curaçao, Aruba and Grand Turk. We did the Washington DC trip when our kids were old enough to appreciate the history and architecture, as well as actually remember it. I would like to go to Alaska at some point, as well as London, Scotland, Ireland and Paris, although rude French people may not be my cup of tea LOL.
As far as goals go, I had a goal to become a nurse, Check! To be an educator, Check! To get married and have at least one child, Check Check Check! I always have a goal to lose weight and get more fit. Not sure I’m EVER going to meet that goal. One can keep trying though.
Review your life, you may find that you’ve already lived a pretty darn great and full time on this Earth. I’ve never just sat there and THOUGHT about all I’ve been able to go to, see, and do in my years. As I wrote this I found that I’ve done so much already!!! If you sit and really really think, you may discover that your Bucket List doesn’t need to be very long.
